Newark Community Day: A Day at Your Museum

Newark residents are invited to the Newark Museum on October 29 to meet their neighbors and see all the museum has to offer. The day's schedule is as follows:

Art Projects
11 am – 3 pm, ongoing
• Collage Making: Visitor are invited to create their own stories using paper collaging and other materials to depict our community and or how they view themselves in relation to the community.
• Build a Scarecrow: Visitors will be able to create their own mini “Gallybagger,” “TattieBogal, or “Bwbach,” making connections to the once very rural Newark landscape.

Murder Mystery Tour: Dangerous Women
1 pm (for families)
6, 7 & 8 pm (for adults; must be 21 and over)
Vampires only exist in books and movies right? Join us as we go vampire hunting in our Seeing America galleries, embarking on a mystery tour routed in an American urban legend classic.

Newark Stories Scavenger Hunt: The Tale of the City
11 am – 3 pm, ongoing
Every city has a story to tell. Join us as we explore multiple buildings and art that speak to the rich and prominent history here in Newark New Jersey. Be transported back in-time as you explore our 1784 school house and historical Ballantine mansion built in 1885 unlocking modern connections in our Modern Heroics Installation.

Hycide

HYCIDE: The Five Wards Launch

HYCIDE's online photo series will explore the reality and perceptions of Newark's wards, focusing on the stories of residents, artists and business owners. There will also be citywide stories on Newark history, music and street culture. The project will feature portraits by HYCIDE editor-in-chief Akintola Hanif and include work by contributing reporters, writers, photographers and artists from Newark.
